What We Support
Wildlife Conservation
Wildlife Conservation is one of our core focus areas at Playa Lake Farm & Ranch. Our goal is to conserve critical wildlife habitat around playa lakes on our lands and to create a farm and ranch model for playa lake properties that balances agricultural production with wildlife conservation that other landowners in the region can use as an example to follow.
Habitat Restoration, Improvement & Enhancement
Habitat is the lifeblood for successful wildlife populations. Throughout the South Plains of Texas Playa Lake habitat and the surrounding uplands support habitat of a large variety of very diverse species.
At Playa Lake Farm & Ranch improving and enhancing wildlife habitat is one of our critical missions. We continually improve, enhance, and manage our playa lake & grassland habitat for the benefit of upland birds, deer, and the great migrations of waterfowl and other migratory birds that happen through this region.
Water Conservation
Water from the Ogallala aquifer is the critical resource of the South Plains of Texas and has a variety of demands and uses. Traditional irrigation methods have diminished this resource and it continues to decline.
Playa Lakes are one of the primary contributors to aquifer replenishment in the region so their functionality in this case is critical. It's our responsibility to use efficient irrigation techniques and other methods to conserve this resource and it's ability to sustain itself through recharge.
Sustainable Agriculture Production
We are growers and producers and understand the importance of agriculture for the sustainability of our country. Our belief is that our agricultural methods and practices must be sustainable so that future generations can enjoy and realize the benefits from our efforts on our same lands.
We believe in and practice farming methods that create long term value and production balanced with wildlife and water conservation.
American Energy Independence
Sustainable production of oil, gas, and renewable energy resources is key to American Energy Independence and is a concept we openly support.
Cooperation among landowners is a key component of sustainable energy and we encourage our peers to collaborate with the energy industry on key issues.
Some of the worlds leading environmental and conservation efforts are supported or led by energy company's or individuals with energy backgrounds, this is a concept we all can believe in and must support as landowners.
